Hello, my name is Karen Shewmaker
I found myself completely overwhelmed at the clutter of my own belongings about 15 years ago. A friend came along beside me, and with kindness and compassion, helped me find my house again. I want to do the same for you.
I have over 25 years of experience assisting family members and friends with sorting through a household in preparation for or following a move to assisted living or following the death of a loved one. Being able to sort through the clutter and papers to determine what matters and what doesn’t is my superpower.

Downsizing
Nothing about this process is easy. Letting go of our treasures is hard. I want to make this process a bit easier for you as we find ways to hold on to the memories but let the physical things go. You will have the option of donating some or all of the household items, selling them to Sift and Sort, or placing them with Sift and Sort on consignment.
House Clearing
Sorting the treasure from the other remaining items to be sold or removed is a process. The goal is to get the house emptied as quickly as possible so it can be turned over to your realtor to get on the market. I work to maintain clear communication with the designated family member so the process moves smoothly and quickly. Family heirlooms are tenderly cared for. Items beyond repair will be recycled whenever possible. You will have the option of donating some or all of the household items, selling them to Sift and Sort, or placing them with Sift and Sort on consignment.

DOWNSIZING PACKAGES
Designed to assist individuals and couples looking to downsize to a smaller home, retirement setting or assisted living home.
You will be guided through the sorting process with understanding and compassion. Items you are ready to donate will be packed and delivered.
BASIC PLAN
16 hours – Two 4-hour sessions a week for two weeks.
BASIC + PLAN
24 HOURS – Two 4-hour sessions a week for 3 weeks.
ADVANCED PLAN
36 HOURS - Three 4-hour sessions a week for 3 weeks.
Plans described above begin at $2,400.
HOUSEHOLD CLEARING PACKAGES
Designed to assist family members needing to clear a home after a loved one's passing. The clients are invited to be a part of the process to the extent they are able or want to be.
Packages include the sorting and packing of the entire household.
Packages do not include cleaning or sales of household items. Sift and Sort will work with each family to either donate household items to charity or purchase items outright that the family wishes to sell.
Disposal rates for garbage will be assessed separately.
TIDY HOME
3 bdrm (1500 sq ft) – 5 days
CLUTTERED HOME
3 bdrm (1500 sq ft) – 7 days
FULL, DIRTY HOME
3 bdrm (1500 sq ft) – 10 days
Plans described above begin at $8,000.
I provide a free on site consultation and walk through to help you determine which package will meet your needs. My services include packing supplies, cataloging for each box and inventories for items donated or to be sold.
